Taking Charge of Your Fertility Software requires that you take your temperature using a basal thermometer which is accurate to 0.1° Fahrenheit (0.05° Celsius).
If you do not have a basal thermometer, you may be able to use an existing fever thermometer but should verify its accuracy by checking the printed specifications supplied by the manufacturer. Note that the displayed accuracy of a fever thermometer is generally not reliable- you must check the accuracy reported within the printed specifications. If you cannot find the original specifications or they do not guarantee this level of accuracy, you should purchase an inexpensive basal thermometer.
